About Taikra

Taikra is a reference for woodworking machines and power tools. It compares them on the figures their makers publish, cited to the page each came from, so you can see what a tool is before you buy it.

What the site covers

Taikra covers the machines and power tools of a home woodworking shop: table, band, miter and track saws, jointers and planers, routers and drill presses, sanders and lathes, and the dust collection and compressed air that serve them. The site currently lists 162 tools in 17 categories from 23 makers, and 24 guides.

Every specification on a tool page comes from the maker's own website, spec sheet or manual and links to it. Where a figure is not on the maker pages we cite, we leave it out rather than estimate it.

What the site does not do

  • We have not bought, used or tested the tools listed here. The pages compare what the makers publish.
  • We do not score tools or rank them on quality, and we do not call any tool the right one for you. Where a page puts tools in order, the order is one figure their makers publish.
  • We do not give safety instructions of our own. Where a maker lists a safety feature or a requirement, we quote it and point you to the manual.

Who publishes it
